Success stories

Jan Bolle (Trainee ING Retail Banking)

At the EBT 2008 I came in touch with ING during an Individual Conversation. A good opportunity for me to get more familiar with this bank and for ING to see whether I was what they were looking for. After this conversation ING contacted me to see whether I was interested in getting more acquinted with the company by subscribing myself for their business course. During this five day event in the Netherlands and Eastern-Europe I discovered rapidly that I wanted to work for this international bank. Apparently this was mutual, because they allowed me to participate in a selection process for the management traineeship. Considering I attended the business course, I could skip several rounds. In April 2009 I started as a trainee at ING and in the mean time I have been working for for ING for almost two years, and I am enjoying it a lot, in the Netherlands as well as abroad. Where an Individual Conversation during the EBT can lead to..

Laurie Jansen (Product Marketing Manager Living Colors EMEA Philips)
Study: International Business (2001 – 2007)

“Without the EBT I would not have been here!”

During the fourth year of my studies I attented Individual Conversations with a.o. AkzoNobel, P&G, Exxon Mobil, Ahold and ABN AMRO. Before the EBT I had no idea what I wanted to do after my studies. These conversations gave me insight in the different types of companies and the different types of industries I could work in, what kind of position would be suitable for me and what kind of business culture would fit me. Because of these Individual Conversations I knew that I wanted to work in the FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) or the industrial sector in a sales position. My next step was participating in the P&G Masterclass. After my studies I could start here as an Account Manager, where I was responsible for the sales of 25 products (a.o. Ariel, Gillette, Pringels) at three supermarket and drugstore chains. I was responsible for a revenue of €10 million!

Four years and three promotions later I am European Product Marketing Manager for the Living Colors at Philips based in Belgium. My career is prosperous, I have a great job and a good international perspective. The experiences I have gained during my studies and the contacts I made during the EBT ensured that I have been able to kick start my career and gave me the possibility to work at the company of my choice.
